Why Evangelical?

Merriam-Webster defines evangelical as " emphasizing salvation by faith in the atoning death of Jesus Christ through personal conversion, the authority of Scripture, and the importance of preaching as contrasted with ritual."

The word "evangelical" has come into misuse, but it is nonetheless when considered properly, a word that stands for some of the most gracious and glorious doctrines of the Christian faith. The word comes from the Greek, euangelion, which is related to good news brought by a messenger. Our chief and highest goal is none other than to share of the good news revealed in Scripture of salvation by grace alone through faith alone in one Lord, namely Jesus Christ to whom, with the Father and the Spirit, be all the glory forever. Such is our preeminent goal through this conference, not only to discuss the history of the Church, but to proclaim Christ in a manner that is scholarly and winsome.

2008-2009 Conference Director
